Too often, it’s easy to get caught up in the vortex of work or running your business that you end up taking care of everything and everyone else, but yourself.
When it comes to your own self-care, you know you can do better. Your health may have been put on the back burner. As women, we often put ourselves last, behind our work and our loved ones. It's an enduring quality, yet self-sabotaging.
I know what it’s like to have a hectic schedule while wearing multiple hats. It’s easy to put your health on the side lines and say things like:
"I'm too tired"
“I don’t have time today”
“I’ll get to exercising tomorrow”
“I’ll make lunch tomorrow. I'll buy today.”
“I’m travelling this week, so I’ll start getting healthier next week”
“I’ll just get this one thing done, then squeeze in a workout later” (later never happens)
If you’re feeling a bit sheepish right now because this may sound like you, that’s okay. I’ve been there too. I’ve heard it all and lived it all. I've had my fair share of the "day after guilt" of not exercising or because I ate that fast food lunch (again), or because I didn't have any energy left to spend quality time with my loved ones.
I frequently hear from women that they could lose some weight, they have low energy, they don't get enough sleep, or they simply aren't happy with how they look. I was once in this boat too, until I decided that I had enough of feeling unhealthy and unhappy with myself.
The good news is, if you are in this boat, things can change for you too. Right now. Right this second. As long as you DECIDE and COMMIT to take better care of your body, the rest will take care of itself in time. That's what happened to me.
For most of my adult life, I have held demanding management positions in the corporate world, which essentially meant that I was “always on”. Work never really stopped for me…unless I was sleeping. Unfortunately, my sleep was not quality sleep. So I would typically wake up tired, foggy and not refreshed.
I wasn't eating the right kinds of food. I ate out way too much. I wasn't exercising the right way to maximize results. I had a gym membership, but if truth be told, there were times that I hardly broke a sweat. But it felt good to say "I went to the gym".
This vicious cycle took a toll on me and I was tired of feeling "meh" all the time. So I decided to make a change -- for good. That was 15 years ago.
Over those years, I learned everything I can about nutrition and fitness. I am a Certified Personal Trainer and Nutrition Coach, Pn1 Certified.
I learned how to stay in shape while working long hours, travelling for work and taking care of the home. All without sacrificing eating delicious food, hunger or living in the gym. And yes, I do occasionally have ice cream and love wine!
I lost fat and leaned out and am stronger than I've ever been - - and most of that change happened in my early 40's. I don't own a scale, but I do keep a pair of old jeans from 15 years ago as my gauge.

It helped me stay energetic and be at my best for my job and my personal life.
It’s never too late to start getting healthier
In December of 2016, I turned 45 and am in the best shape of my life. I feel that I'm in my right-sized body, am stronger and have more energy than I ever had.
I started to take notice that women were asking me "what was I doing" to stay fit. The funny thing was that I didn’t think I was doing anything out of the ordinary. What I was doing was simply following a set of routines (a system) that I created for myself that became habits.
I don't eat like a bird, nor do I spend endless hours working out. NEWS FLASH - you don't have to.
Girlfriends often suggested that I should teach busy women how to get in their best shape regardless of their starting point. So...
A new beginning
In 2016, I made a big scary decision to leave a successful marketing career in the corporate world to build Keeping It Real Fit, Fitness and Nutrition Coaching for busy women. I teach women to become an even better version of themselves through food, fitness and self-care.
It's not just about weight.
It’s about being stronger and feeling better.
It’s about being more confident in your own skin, happier and free.
One of the biggest benefits of unleashing the leaner, more fit you - - is freedom. Freedom from what holds you back because your body is not in shape. Free from having low energy. Free from your own self-consciousness and negative thoughts on how you look. Free from hiding your body. Free from the fear of potential health problems.
When we look good, we feel good.

Getting in shape
can be difficult...but
it doesn't have to be.
Sometimes you simply need a wing woman.
This is all possible for you and a reality that is closer than you think. The best part is that by setting your body free by eating and moving better, there are positive ripple effects on other areas of your life. Such as your relationships, quality of sleep, stress, and your work.
